ITF Innovation Tech Talk - Decommissioning and Well Abandonment

05 September 2017
Venue: The Chester Hotel, Queens Road, Aberdeen, AB15 4YP

It is estimated that about 45% of all decommissioning costs in the North Sea relate to well plugging and abandonment, and operators are now pressing ahead with well abandonment activities or have clear plans in place over the next two to three years to do so. Progress has been made by operators in improving the efficiencies and reducing the costs of well abandonment, but the costs are still high and there is a big prize to be gained by achieving further cost reductions. In this context, new technologies will play a crucial role.
We are delighted to announce the second event in ITF's series of free Innovation Network Tech Talks, focusing on Decommissioning and Well Abandonment, supported by Decom North Sea.
Technology developers, industry bodies and operators will take part in an interactive session where they will discuss the challenges faced by the industry as well as showcase technologies and developments to assist the decommissioning challenges.
Speakers include Roger Esson, CEO of Decom North Sea, John Wiseman, Managing Director at Fairfield Energy who will focus on the critical delivery challenges and a joint presentation from Zero Waste Scotland and Jacobs Engineering Group who are currently working together on Circular Decommissioning projects.
Attendees will hear from a range of technology developers who will showcase their innovative decommissioning and well abandonment technology and how they can assist with the industry's challenges.
