OCEANS 17: Call for Offshore Mining Expertise for Conference

14 December 2016

Experts in the world-wide offshore mining community are being invited to play their part in a major oceanic engineering conference taking place in Scotland next year.

High quality technical and scientific papers are being sought for the 60TH IEEE/MTS OCEANS Conference and Exhibition, which takes place in Aberdeen from June 19 to 22.

The closing date for abstract submissions is 16 January 2017.

Call for Expertise in Offshore Mining

The OCEANS conference series brings together professionals and experts from across the global marine community involved in all aspects of the oceanic engineering, technology and science industry, and will also feature a series of Special Topics specific to the Aberdeen meeting, including offshore mining.

The conference organisers are calling for abstract submissions reflecting all aspects of offshore mining from riser technology, vessel design, exploration and mineral extraction tools, environmental studies as well as development of the associated legal framework

Dr Stef Kapusniak of SMD and a Plenary Speaker at OCEANS17 Aberdeen, said: "I am delighted to have this opportunity to talk at OCEANS17 and to help bring the work being done world-wide in Offshore Mining to the wider oceanic engineering community and would like to encourage colleagues to submit papers on the unique work they are now are doing. Advances in riser technology, mining vessel design, exploration tools, mineral extraction tools, biological and environmental studies as well as development of the associated legal framework are all relevant.
