Energy specialist Neptune is pursuing the continued diversification of its services by attending an event aimed at showcasing nuclear supply chain opportunities.

Hosted by Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, representatives from Neptune will attend a Meet the Buyer event at the Doubletree Dunblane Hydro on June 22.

The event programme will provide an insight into the current nuclear market and the various opportunities surrounding it, as well as sessions with a range of nuclear developers. It will also offer advice and information to suppliers, SMEs and companies looking to step into the industry.

For Neptune, the nuclear market is an industry that it has earmarked for potential growth in future months as it continues to place an emphasis on diversification of its services.

Already home to a versatile offering, the company has recently completed a project for the Thames Tideway Tunnel development in London. A distance away from its work within the North Sea, Neptune provided diver tracking services on board the Thames Explorer to monitor those working on the riverbed near Blackfriars Bridge as they conducted an unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey.

Kevin Stephen, Neptune’s operations and business development director for Europe, Mediterranean and Africa, believes that diversification has taken on a greater importance for business growth, especially given the challenges currently affecting the energy sector.

He said: "At Neptune, we’ve been actively looking at the various opportunities surrounding the nuclear market and we’re beginning to take the necessary steps to allow us to begin marketing various services within the sector. We’re looking forward to attending the joint Scottish and Highlands and Islands Enterprise event in Dunblane to hear more on some of the avenues that are currently available.

"Diversification of our services has always been central to the Neptune model, with our recent contract completion within the Thames Tideway Tunnel development in London a working example of this. Our integrated approach to our work – from planning through to design, production, installation and maintenance – allows us to actively pursue fresh opportunities while keeping work in-house. It’s a strong offering and one that will hopefully continue to reap benefits for the company in the future.”
