Subsea Technology and Rentals (STR), a multi-disciplinary technology expert specialising in the design, production and rental of innovative marine survey equipment are pleased to announce the delivery of the first ever deep water rated, Titanium housed NORBIT iWBMS wideband multibeam sonar system.

The curved array wideband multibeam sonar will be employed by STR customers for wide swath bathymetric survey operations from surface vessels, utilising the integrated GNSS-aided inertial navigation system, whilst maintaining flexibility as an ROV "ready” multibeam system rated to 4000m water depth.

Scott Johnstone, Managing Director at STR, said: "We have been working with NORBIT products at STR’s head office in Great Yarmouth for several months. Our engineering team have invested a significant amount of time in developing procedures and undertaking technology workshops alongside representatives from NORBIT to ensure a smooth integration between NORBIT products and STR clients.

Neil Jackson, Sales and Operations Manager at STR, commented on the popularity of this product within the industry. "This product is already proving to be a real asset to our expanding rental pool and demonstrates our commitment to investment in new technology, notably in a difficult market to give our customers access to the best equipment. Interest from our customers globally is extremely positive and will likely guide us to further investment in the near future.”
