Engineering and project management service specialist Apollo has developed a new business line to support customers’ business efficiencies.

The company currently supplies engineering analysis and design expertise for topsides, marine and subsea projects. The newly created Apollo Technical Software business team will offer customers an independent solution to help manage day to day engineering data effectively and aid decision making.

Business Unit Manager Douglas Sinclair will lead the team and Mark Tanyous brings expertise as software programmer. Both have joined from Aker Solutions.

Jon D’Arcy, Apollo managing director said: "We live in a world of increasing data flow. In today’s buoyant and burgeoning oil and gas sector it is more important than ever to streamline data and filter information. We find that our customers have an increasing number of software tools to help them in their day to day business. These are on multiple platforms that can make data assimilation and informed decision making difficult.

"Our new team will identify technical issues and will create new tools to aid customers in their engineering and management tasks, whether that be in asset integrity, verification or commissioning activities for example.”

The development of the technical software function comes just months after Apollo bolstered its structural engineering capability with the formation of their structural analysis support service.

New recruit Mr Sinclair said: "Apollo is a company with bold ambition. Their vibrancy and clear vision for the future attracted me to join them to develop their technical software offering. I look forward to being a part of their exciting future.”

Apollo currently employs 60 engineers between its offices in Aberdeen, Nottingham and London with plans to significantly increase employee numbers both locally and internationally.
