The Global Underwater Hub (GUH) is being established by Subsea UK to transform the globally competitive underwater industry in the UK, accelerating the transition to net-zero, driving innovation and growth and making a step-change in the development and internationalisation of technology and services.

Driven and led by industry, with funding from both Scottish and UK governments, the GUH will build on Subsea UKs rich heritage and depth of knowledge, contacts and services with enhanced resources to help all those involved in the underwater space access the strategic market intelligence and connections to grow the value that exists in all those companies and organisations.

The GUH will achieve this by:

  • Facilitating multidisciplinary collaborations between companies, sectors, government, industry bodies, institutions and academia
  • Promoting cross-fertilisation of innovative underwater solutions which will help the shift to low carbon and deliver outputs which are greater than the sum of their parts
  • Better connecting the different bodies, institutions and companies with the market opportunities to deliver the underwater solutions of the future

To help achieve and drive the business plan, there is an immediate requirement for a Commercial Director to join Subsea UK in the development and operation of the GUH who will deliver the strategic messaging, insight and market intelligence that drives the delivery of the goals of the GUH.


  • Support the development and promotion of the new GUH entity
  • Support member company growth, innovation, and collaboration
  • Support to sector wide growth, capability enhancement and partner collaboration
  • Promote and support the development and delivery and use of digital solutions across all GUH operations
  • Develop appropriate policies and processes to control the delivery of strategic messaging / market intelligence content / project management and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with government funding and state-aid reporting policies, procedures, and reporting requirements; including advising project partners and recipients of project funding of their obligations


We are looking for candidates with the following credentials:

  • Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth, delivery and success
  • Strong organisation and management skills, with the ability to plan, programme, prioritise and manage multiple projects; co-ordinating input from multiple stakeholders to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a range of audiences, prepare clear and concise reports, recommendations and have confident presentation skills
  • Identifies, anticipates and navigates problems and obstacles in an orderly and calm manner
  • High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance
  • A mature and balanced approach to the assessment and management of risk
  • A strong cultural fit and commitment to the values and ethos of the business
