Paul graduated in 1987 with a BSc honours degree in Polymer Science & Technology and was awarded the prestigious Lord Hewlett industrial scholarship.
The scholarship saw Paul seconded into the research & development facility of the Borg Warner Chemicals Europe in The Netherlands where he majored on the structure-to-property relationship and the fracture behaviour of engineering polymers.
He returned to the UK in the late 80’s to take up a series of engineering positions within the Borg Warner Chemicals Europe UK operation where he led on a number of projects to prove the safe and cost effective use of engineering polymers in some of the most technically demanding applications.
In the early 90’s, Paul joined DSM; a Dutch multinational polymer and chemical group. Over the course of the next 10 years or so, Paul held a number of commercial positions within the DSM corporate environment culminating in the appointment to General Sales Manager for their Engineering Polymers Business Unit in the UK and Ireland.
Paul founded PDL in the year 2000. He has since grown the company into being one of the most trusted and respected independent engineering consultancies operating across 6 safety critical industries in 3 global regions. He has been instrumental in positioning PDL as ‘The Engineering Analysis Experts’ and he’s played a pivotal role in deploying their game-changing ‘Process Optimisation & Automation Tools’ service offering to their major clients.
As well as leading his own business, Paul has previously served as the non-executive Chairman of NOF Energy, been a member of the Oil & Gas Authority Supply Chain and Exports Task Force and is a past board member of the National Subsea Research Initiative (NSRI).
