The UK offshore oil and gas industry has been utilising subsea technology for over 30 years and its importance in maximising the recovery of our oil and gas continues to grow. It offers significant advantages over fixed production platforms and allows hydrocarbons to be extracted more cost effectively and in more challenging environments.
Currently, two thirds of all new fields in the UK will be developed as subsea tie-backs to existing infrastructure and the demand for subsea goods, equipment and services is growing not just here but further afield too. Around the world, the UK is widely regarded as the technological leader in this area. Indeed, the country earns around £2 billion a year from the export of subsea technology.
This Oil & Gas UK seminar will look at subsea issues and the work programmes currently underway in the industry. Robin Davies, global vice-president - business improvement at Subsea 7, will open the event with a keynote address highlighting both the opportunities for the subsea sector along with the important role it plays in the UK offshore oil and gas industry.
The seminar will focus on four key areas:
1. Subsea asset reliability, obsolescence and life extension
2. Flexible pipe and riser integrity
3. Subsea safety systems and standards
4. West of Shetland challenges
Oil & Gas UK's seminars present an excellent opportunity to network with industry colleagues and to be informed of the latest developments in the UK oil and gas sector.
