Offshore activity has increased but, like most owners, DOF is not holding its breath

DOF chief executive Mons Aase says offshore market activity has risen this year in general but the huge oversupply of ships is still crushing most chances of an increase in day rates.

The sector is mostly still "a utilisation game” for shipowners but some offshore segments are doing better than others, such as certain subsea projects that need highly specialised tonnage, Aase says.

Lower-specification subsea ships working on less-complicated projects are, in some cases, doing a little better.
